Manages all phases of Decision Support by providing oversight for maintenance of and reporting from the cost accounting system as well as other clinical and financial data access solutions. Must have knowledge of cost accounting principles, financial operations, system databases and data elements and of application/software solutions to maximize data gathering, data aggregation, and information management. The DSS Analyst is engaged in the development of the facility’s strategic plan through product line analysis, profitability, and other studies to determine strategic focus. Provides ongoing support and monitoring of the strategic plan through special studies, routine reporting and service line profitability analysis. The position requires a continuous focus on providing customer support to meet the needs of senior management, Division, physician stakeholders, department or service line managers, corporate and other external customers. The analyst works with other facilities and with regional support staff to ensure reporting standards, information accuracy and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications


  • BS/BA in Clinical, Finance or IS degree. Graduate degree such as MBA or MHA preferred.
  • 2 years hospital operations or healthcare information management experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills and an understanding of financial operations of a hospital including strong cost accounting knowledge and proficiency with financial system applications.
  • Must possess a high degree of accuracy with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Must possess strong excel and/or access skills including advanced functions.
  • Able to prioritize and accomplish multiple simultaneous projects of varying intensity and duration.
