Position Summary:
The Temporary Warehouse Associate is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the receiving, handling and shipment of goods. Most tasks are routine and repetitive, requiring the individual to accurately carry out instructions with limited decision making. Certain other tasks including receiving, shipping and truck shipments are more complex and require more training including the driving of Power Industrial Equipment. Warehouse Associates perform their tasks under general supervision. Workload is driven by the volume of incoming and outgoing shipments. Because of this, Warehouse Associates must be able to adapt to fluctuations in work flow.
Essential Duties:
- Picking:
- Pick the required quantity and type of goods from the appropriate storage location and deliver them to the correct location for inspection
- Inspection:
- Inspect picked goods against shipping orders, looking for errors and damaged or defective goods
- Update after shipping (lot #'s and serial #'s). Input of shipment for non UPS/RPS
- Packing
- Package small parcels and prepare appropriate paperwork on hazardous goods
- Comply with Hazard Regulations by ensuring that hazardous goods are properly packaged and stored
- Insert void fill, material safety data sheets, and stuffers; seal and label small parcels
- Shipping:
- Scan small parcels using a bar code scanner and follow prompting of small parcel manifest system to ship and route packages
- Inspect, package, and label freight for shipment via truck, and prepare the necessary documentation
- Direct trucker to proper goods for shipment and ensure that driver signs appropriate paperwork
- Receiving
- Verify correctness of incoming goods versus purchase orders, noting discrepancies and damages on the appropriate forms and marking goods as instructed
- Assemble incoming products as required
- Run pre-receiving reports and route packages accordingly
Qualifications Core Competencies:
- Product knowledge
- Ability to operate/drive power industrial equipment
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation Hazard Regulations
- Familiarity with procedures of major small parcel carriers such as UPS and FedEx
- High School Diploma + 6 months to 1 year warehouse experience
- Ability to grasp, pull and lift product from shelving
- Ability to read/write in English
