Datacenter Technician
Reports to: Director, Data Center Operations Department: Data Center Team
JOB SUMMARY:
The Data Center Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day functions of the data center. Primary roles will center around hardware implementations, assisting with customer projects, inventory tracking, and supporting internal engineering teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform day-to-day data center functions
- Cabling, installations, asset tracking, procurement, audit adherence, customer support.
- Ensures all hardware, software assets and configuration items (CMDB) are accurately documented throughout the implementation process following NTT standard
- Respond to and maintain tickets in accordance with department procedures
- Physical implementation of new and existing customer equipment. Includes racking, cabling, port provision and basic configuration
- Maintain all customer equipment
- Racking and cabling of customer telecommunication equipment including cross connecting circuits
- Reacts to incidents in a timely fashion that meets or exceeds the customer service level agreement and restores service as soon as possible
- Being part of a weekly on-call schedule
- Attend meetings and conference calls
- Perform audits in support of Compliance Team
- Manage Data center requests within Service Now ticketing queue
- Perform any and all other requests as needed.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Working as a point-of-contact
- Constantly improves the customer support experience.
- Working as a sell-in function
- Setting expectations in the field for executive briefings, datacenter tours, custom engagements
- Receives and ships inventory as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years of project management experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- Datacenter experience
- Aptitude to handle tools and hardware
- Knowledge/background in software industry products/services/applications
- Strong cross team/group/org collaboration skills
- Tactically oriented and highly detail oriented to support organization
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with external vendors
- Ability to interact in person with clients or account executives
- Enthusiasm and passion for the industry
- Understanding the ability to monitor, tune and troubleshoot various systems.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills.
- Strong customer focus. Must work well with customers of varying levels of technical expertise in high-pressure situations and complex environments.
