Role Summary
Product Owner will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, and managing the product backlog for scrum teams. The PO is a member of the Product Management team and will partner with the IT Product Manager and Business Experience Owners to understand their priorities and vision for the near-term and long-term roadmap, translating those priorities into features and user stories. The Producer owner will build artifacts and the backlog for the purpose of sharing a product increment vision with the scrum team, and validating the acceptance criteria through product demonstrations. The PO is accountable for the scrum team’s ability to deliver business value throughout each sprint and PI (Product Increment). This is a hands-on position which requires the individual to collaborate with Architects, Data Modelers, Test Engineers, and DevOps Engineers on a daily basis. Candidates for this role should possess knowledge of the Salesforce.com capabilities (both functional and technical) and integration capabilities. Candidates should be able to design sales cloud, reporting, data migration mapping, and business processes that align and take advantage of the Salesforce.com capabilities. Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to uncover business requirements in discovery and design sessions, and be able to create and effectively demonstrate solutions that address customer requirements and align with the business strategy.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing the Product backlog for a given solution area
- Provide product vision, roadmap and direction to the Agile scrum team, stakeholders, and leadership teams
- Create requirements through Epics, Features, User stories and ensure the team always has enough defined in the backlog to pull into sprints
- Create User story flow diagrams and Use case diagrams
- Prep for PI planning and facilitate sprint planning meetings with the Scrum Master to ensure completeness of user story grooming, which includes helping the team to define Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done
- Partner with BPS, GPS, and external software vendors to triage and troubleshoot production incidents
- Work closely with Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, and Principle Software Engineers to guide team through Agile ceremonies
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives for self and team around Product Management, UX/UI Design, Agile Delivery, Technical Story writing, Quality Engineering, and Problem Management.
Qualifications
Knowledge of content management and content generation using FileNet and SmartComms.- Ability to facilitate complex discussions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to understand business needs and translate them into software solutions and requirements
- Ability to quickly earn the trust of peers and key stakeholders; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity
- Able to understand software solutions, makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous issues, and effectively communicates to individuals at various levels of the technical and business communities
- Excellent prioritization and negotiation skills
- Must be able to communicate with clarity, maturity and precision both written and verbally
- Ability to navigate matrixed organizations effectively
- Results-oriented, diligent and works with a sense of urgency
- Assertive, responsible for his/her own work (self-directed), have a strong affinity for defining work in deliverables, and be willing to commit to deadlines
- Influential, focused and versatile team player who is comfortable under pressure
Experience
Must have FileNet and SmartComms experience- Insurance industry experience preferred
- Must have an understanding of and enthusiasm for Agile behaviors, processes, and terminology
- Must have leadership experience, preferably as a Product Owner, Project Lead role, or Requirements Lead
- Experience with Application Lifecycle Management and Problem Tracking tools (RALLY, JIRA, HPSM, Confluence) is preferred
- Experience in writing business requirements and/or system requirements
