Summary: Cuts off excess aluminum from metal castings, must have good organization and communication skills. Attention to detail a must. 2nd shift hours are 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm and overtime is at the beginning of shift. Training will take place on 1st shift (5:00 am-1:30 pm). Upon completion of the training period employee will be transferred to 2nd shift, a 2nd shift differential of 15 % will be added to the base starting rate capped at $2.50. Duties: · Blow or wipe excess sand off casting and gates. · Cutoff and discard filter(s) from runner system and place in barrel designated for filter and alloy. · Remove gates and risers and place in designated alloy return barrel. · Refer to X-Ray Req. field on part-specific Process Sheet to determine if riser slice is required for X-ray. · Cut riser slice if required by Process Sheet. Stamp riser slice with part number and serial number and give to Supervisor for X-ray daily. · Check casting for defects. · Notify Supervisor of any visible defects. · Identify and segregate scrapped castings per Control of Nonconforming Product work instruction. · Record scrapped castings · Put acceptable castings in designated barrel or basket to release castings to Finishing operation. · Bring full return barrel to designated storage area in Melt department.
