CT Technologist - Radiology CT Scan - PRN #3005

Stormont Vail Health is searching for a CT Technologist - Radiology CT Scan - PRN #3005 in our CT Radiology Department department. This position is at 1500 SW 10TH AVENUE, TOPEKA, KS 66604-1353 USA.

Schedule: PRN - as needed, no guaranteed hours, not benefit eligible

Shift: Variable Less than 12 hour shift

Weekly Work Schedule: Hours Vary

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • One (1) year previous CT experience desired.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • ARRT (R) Certified
  • Must have current Kansas license or temporary license if license is pending.
  • Current CPR certification.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Summary:

Operates radiologic equipment and performs CT procedures by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform diagnostic computed tomography procedures utilizing a pressure injector and administering contrast under supervision.
  • Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic computed tomography procedures.
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
  • Assists radiologist in examinations.
  • Measures and mixes contrast media for oral consumption.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Performs office work including, but not limited to, answering phone, obtaining information from computer, and ordering departmental supplies.
  • Call is a requirement of this position.
  • Performs venipuncture for injections
  • Provides a positive image to customers by creating a friendly atmosphere and placing a high priority on meeting customer needs in a courteous manner.
  • Provides services in a prompt manner at times convenient for the customers.
  • Understands and practices patient confidentiality.
