JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, performs routine CT and general x-ray, in at least one location, across all patient types. Functions competently and safely in the application of the ionizing radiation in accordance with the established professional and departmental standards, policies and procedures, providing patient care in support of routine, urgent, and emergent situations on a 24 hour basis in these two modalities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:


  • Executes basic clinical competence in general x-ray and CT, in at least 1 location, across all patient types. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient. Observes concepts of Image Wisely/Image Gently for dose reduction. Administers contrast according to facility policy.
  • Applies knowledge of CT principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation safety and physics, patient positioning, and patient case skills. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal, organizational and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
  • Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
  • Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment. Maintains supplies and inventory in the area. Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors. Documents and reports related to equipment/environmental problems in accordance with policy. Follow equipment quality control procedures with appropriate documentation.
  • Actively participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience, and quality. Actively participates in student and employee training and education activities.
  • Takes on scheduling for On Call, weekend coverage and Rotating of shifts or facilities as required for CT Per Diem 1 level.


Level 2 CT Per Diem Job Requirements

CT Per Diem 2 job description

Requirements specific to SRH CT Per Diem Program – each CT Per Diem 2 is expected to:

  • Work at a minimum of 2 different sites (suggesting North sites of Chestertown and Queen Anne ED and South sites of DIC, MHE, and Cambridge). The employee is willing to work any shift at the location.
  • Work a minimum of 832 hours per year.
  • Work a minimum of 52 call shifts per year.
    • Suggest: one call shift per week
    • Cover at least 13 weekend shifts. There is no requirement for length of the shifts (8 hours, 12 hours). These shift hours count toward the yearly minimum of 832 hours.
      • Suggest: 1 weekend shift every 4th weekend or every 8th weekend both days

All hours will be totaled quarterly and shared with the employee by the site coordinator. The employee can work more than the minimum hours/shifts if there is a scheduling need. Failure to meet the yearly requirement will cause the per diem status to change to relief status, with accompanying change/decrease in pay to the relief level.

    • Associates degree, or Certificate, in radiologic technology from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)

    Experience

    • 1 year experience in general x-ray
    • 1 year experience in CT

    License/Certifications

    • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in Radiography (R)
    • Licensed Radiographer – State of Maryland
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
