SCMHCC is currently recruiting for a full-time Vocational Specialist. Benefits include 401(k) participation, 401(k) 5% salary match after one year of employment, eligible for paid vacation after six months of employment, paid sick leave accrual begins at hire date, employer paid life insurance and LTD after one year of employment, no cost/low cost employee health insurance options, no cost employee dental and vision coverage, and at least 10 paid holidays per calendar year. $1,000 sign on bonus Position Overview: The Adult Supported Employment Specialist will deliver high quality medically necessary mental health services within the Community Support Program to persons residing in Butler County. The Adult Supported Employment Specialist will be responsible for delivering vocational rehabilitation supports/ services. The Adult Supported Employment Specialist will operate under a service delivery that is guided by the philosophy and practices of the Strengths Model of Case Management. 1. Operate in compliance with personnel policies and practices. 2. Promote the mission and value of the SCMHCC, Inc. 3. Attend SCMHCC staff meeting, training and additional meetings as required. 4. Perform other duties as directed by Community Support Coordinator 1. Driving for purposes of community based mobility 2. Bending/ stooping o Preferred experience include: Working with adults who have been diagnosed with psychiatric disorders, knowledge of community resources, and service provision. Must have strong organizational skills along with effective communication skills both orally and in writing. o Pass a criminal background and drivers license check to the satisfaction of SCMH
Working knowledge of job market including business types, occupations, hiring practices, work settings, and skills required.
Establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with area employers, Vocational and Rehabilitation (VR) and community employment resources to enhance job development/ job marketing.
3. Developing supportive relationships with identified clients, center staff and community partners.
Assisting client with identifying strengths, interests, job skills and abilities. Helping client identify unique challenges/ barriers to obtaining and/ or maintaining employment and strategies/ coping styles to overcome barriers.
5. Conducting written employment assessments that includes work skills (work history), strengths and preferences, networking contacts for job search and individual work goal(s) for competitive employment.
6. Matching client with job based on “goodness of fit” for both employer and individual.
Understanding of psychiatric disorders, dual diagnoses (mental health and substance use/abuse), medications and the impact on vocational functioning.
Advocating effectively for clients with other team members, employers, and families. Understanding of ADA in hiring of job applicants/ employment. Negotiating job site modifications and/ or accommodations with client and their employer.
Keeping up to date on how work impacts SSA benefits and awareness of tax and other government resources in hiring individuals with disabilities including Work Opportunity Tax Credit and On-the-Job Training Wages.
10. Teaching client skills in areas of developing resumes, filing out job applications, and job interviewing by prompting, modeling and role playing.
11. Providing job coaching and developing job-related crisis intervention plans.
12. Participating in treatment team planning meetings with client present.
13. Attend weekly meetings (group and clinical supervision).
14. Completing documentation and required paper work.

o Minimum of a BA/ BS degree or combination of work experience in the human services field and/ or business/marketing background with one year of work related experience substituting for one year of education.
