POSITION SUMMARY
This manager level position is directly accountable for increasing volumes of first purchased Oklahoma crude oil for the Lease Crude Gathering System. Additionally, maintaining positive and ongoing relationships with existing Producer customers is critical for the position. The incumbent will be operating in a complex marketing environment requiring sound judgment with little precedence in the region.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, accounting, geology or related field
- MBA preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 10+ years of experience in crude oil supply acquisitions within regional locale required, and/or crude oil purchasing/trading and pipeline experience.
- 10 years of experience dealing with state and federal agencies which regulate petroleum exploration, production and gathering.
- Thorough knowledge of exploration and production activities required.
- Experience in Division Order functions.
- Thorough understanding of transportation operations and crude oil procurement required.
- Extensive list of desirable Producer contacts required.
- Demonstrated understanding of trade arrangements and agreements required.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate.
- Ability and commitment to work a flexible schedule in order to adapt to the availability of Producers.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Overnight travel required, at least one night per week or as business dictates.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Solicit Lease Crude production not purchased by Refinery that would be a profitable addition to the crude gathering system.
- Stay abreast of drilling occurring in the area of operation and any new oil fields developed.
- Maintain close association with existing Producer customers. Strive to maintain the volume of lease production in system and ensure position with existing Producers to purchase new production brought on stream.
- Assist Producers with information requirements by providing internal forms from CVR and/or governmental agencies.
- Schedules monthly/daily crude oil transactions into the refinery and at all trading points, including bulk and lease
purchasing.
- Responsible for the coordination of storage with third parties and pipeline operations, monitoring inventory
levels.
- Monitors and tracks exchanges, receipts and exchange balance.
- Responsible for some contract administration.
- Coordinate with CVR’s transportation and division order groups to ensure that new oil is secured for the gathering system. Discuss new leases and their locations with the Pipeline/Transportation group and assist Division Order administrator securing information required to establish payments for Lease Production
- Increase the domestic Lease Crude supply in areas that are new to CVR’s gathering territory for domestic barrels.
- Develop cost-efficient incentives to offer Producers.
- Derive new or unique purchasing concepts that will result in CVR being on the cutting edge of new ways to secure business.
- Examine potential areas or territories for expansion and develop approaches for servicing the new area.
- Stay abreast of the Domestic Crude Market for opportunities to negotiate and trade with other industry purchasers.
- Develop opportunities for new crude unload points on CVR’s proprietary pipeline systems or other competitor’s pipelines.
- Determine what price should be offered to Producers taking into account transportation expenses versus competitive alternative crude oil supplies available to the Refinery.
- Regularly communicate with VP Crude Supply progress, roadblocks and questions.
- Maintain active memberships with professional organization(s) that relate to the petroleum industry.
EXPECTED RESULTS
- Enhance economics of scale and lower per barrel gathering expenses for assigned territory.
