About the Role

The Creative Director is a member of the leadership team and reports to the VP of Revenue (interim reporting to CEO/President) of our
Ecommerce company. Our creative department plays a critically important role in continuing growth of our highly successful marketplace product catalog and our emerging direct to consumer brand. By applying a blended mix of brand marketing expertise, strong leadership/communication skills, and technical mastery; the Creative Director will drive the methodology and produce the assets needed to tell our story to a new and existing customer base. The Director will set the benchmark for quality, speed, and cost management for the
creative department, while also empowering the creative team to unlock their abilities to produce great content.

The successful candidate is highly skilled in graphic design and photo/video production. They will have a proven record of being a brand
marketer, a problem solver, a strong communicator, a solid decision maker, and a storyteller at heart. They will also demonstrate confidence in everything from team building/mentoring to guiding large groups of creative talent. Nonetheless, they understand the need to move quickly in order to keep pace with the market, while ensuring standards and expectations are fully met through strategic planning, efficient design and production, and communication with other departments.

What you will do

  • Responsible for developing and employing strategic content around our retail brand to ensure the highest quality creative output from the in-house production team pertaining to branded product content, direct-to consumer site and marketplace storefront content, marketing
channels (email, influencers, social, etc), and various projects that require creative production.
  • Oversee a cross-functional team of creative managers, graphic designers, copywriters, and photographers/videographers in the development of branded content for our growing DTC brand.
  • Supervise the product launch processes team to ensure products are launched on time with a highquality strong conversion, and brand awareness.
  • Steer and influence end-to-end departments scheduling, production, and content review processes.
  • Deliver on time and on budget while collaborating with marketing, product sales, and product development leadership for project prioritization and overall brand messaging.
  • Establish and maintain a production schedule, ensuring creative production capacity is incorporated into company’s overall project planning, marketing calendar, and product launch schedule.
  • Work with a team of Product Designers, sales and marketing managers, brand managers, project managers, and technologists for varying projects requiring creative output.
  • Support executive team with various projects (business development, internal initiatives, etc).
  • Work closely with the User Experience team and Brand Manager to create messaging and visuals that support the continued brand positioning and growth of our emerging DTC brand site.
  • Oversees schedules and workflow management of the creative department.
  • Manage the creative team while also being a coach and mentor to enhance and develop the skillsets of those being managed.
  • Monitor team progress, efficiency, velocity, and goals alignment.
  • Engage in regular project reviews and be critique to ensure that solutions are of high-quality and align with creative strategies and standards.

What you need to succeed

  • At least 3+ years in a Director level role in a retail/online retail company ($25MM+Annual Revenue) and teams of 8+ designers across multiple projects.
  • Experienced in online consumer products marketing with a strong understanding of key KPIs metrics.
  • Solid understanding in copywriting/editing online branded content and product content), photo and video production, and post-production.
  • Displays strong ability working with Shopify+ platform.
  • Problem solver, dynamic, high energy candidate that acts with urgency and efficiency.
  • Ability to communicate design direction to other designers and engineers.

Experience with employee development, coaching, training, teaching conflict resolution, and monitoring performance.

  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment serving as a catalyst for change and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Effectively manage work schedules and assigned tasks, track, analyze, and report team performance, and develop and execute a path for team success.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for internal and external customer contact.
  • Highly organized and plans effectively.
  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to be a team player is a must.
