Purpose of Position

This position will manage COVID and core infectious disease surveillance activities at the Department of Health's Infectious Disease Epidemiology Bureau (IDEB). The position requires a broad knowledge of infectious disease epidemiology and infectious disease surveillance systems. Candidate directly supervises three (3) Epidemiologist O positions and one (1) Data Entry Advanced position and may coordinate activities of special studies, as well as participate in IDEB on-call epidemiologist activities. In addition this position coordinates the work and quality assurance of several contracted temporary staff conducting daily data entry for hundreds of lab results reported daily to NMDOH, and data cleaning activities on the database.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a Master of Public Health or equivalent degree and proven experience with analytical software and management of data bases.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Executive Order 2021-046 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.

The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated August 17, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to be fully vaccinated.
