Position Summary:

Villanova University seeks individuals to serve on the COVID-19 contact tracing team in the Student Health Center. The contact tracer is responsible for reaching out to people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or who have been exposed to COVID-19. Contact tracers will provide health education and guidance to interrupt ongoing disease transmission. Dialogue with contacts will be guided by standard protocols to obtain any symptom history and other relevant health information. Contact tracers will provide instructions for self-quarantine, and make appropriate referrals for testing, clinical services, and other essential support services. Contact tracers are required to follow all designated scripts and comply with policies and procedures provided by the health department regarding confidentiality and data security for the handling of sensitive client information and protected health information

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Initiate prompt communication with patients diagnosed with COVID-19, and close contacts exposed to COVID-19. Communication to affected individuals will take place via text, phone calls, email, and other communication platforms as necessary.
• Employ excellent, sensitive interpersonal interviewing skills to notify individuals of positive COVID-19 diagnoses or exposures.
• Verify individual’s identity during initial communication and prior to disclosing confidential information. Elicit list of close contacts of diagnosed individual.
• Provide diagnosed patients and close contacts with education and information regarding Villanova University’s policy on isolation and quarantine measures.
• Monitor health screening of COVID-19 positive students and close contacts daily. Maintain data in secure contact tracing software.
• Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• Proficient with computer technology, including Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Nursing degree preferred
