DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a beginner social casework position providing a wide range of services in child welfare. Employees in this class provide casework services to abused and/or neglected children and youth and their families which include dependent children, adolescents, adults, and families to help them attain a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional, or physical adjustment.

An important aspect of this work is utilizing casework skills in obtaining essential information and in aiding families to utilize all available resources. Caseworker provides support to children and/or youth and adolescents experiencing difficulties and provides an effort to facilitate growth, behavioral, and emotional improvements to those individuals and their families. Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies, and procedures.

Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (M-F) with a 30 minute lunch
**On-call and other emergencies outside regular hours.**


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:

  • You must have successfully examined and have a current score on file. If you have not already done so, you must first apply to the COUNTY CASEWORKER 1 – CHILDREN AND YOUTH (ONLINE EXAM) posting and follow the directions provided.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Indiana County. If no eligible candidates who live within Indiana County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police Clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
