Description/Job Summary

RHD's NOVA III program is seeking a Counselor to partner with individuals to develop their treatment/recovery goals in relation to their medical, psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.

This is a full-time position with a Sunday-Thursday schedule.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Maintains respectful and trauma-informed interactions with all residents, staff, family members and visitors at all times
  • Facilitates and documents three to four group therapy sessions per week
  • Develops and revises as required individualized treatment/recovery plans based on participants' goals for case load of up to eight individuals
  • Evaluates residents' progress and reports to funders/referral sources as requested through authorization/re- authorization reviews
  • Facilitates and documents individual sessions with assigned individuals at least once weekly
  • Completes comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluation for new residents
  • Assists in residents' aftercare planning and follow-up
  • Participates actively in clinical case conferences as a member of the individual's support team
  • Provides clinical guidance to nursing and support staff
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed

Required Experience

  • 2 years working with individuals with co-occuring disorders
  • Experience leading therapeutic groups
  • Experience with individuals with significant trauma histories

Required Education

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology or related field

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and function within a trauma-informed environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • A valid driver's license is required

Program Summary

NOVA III is a DDAP licensed 10-bed residential program that employs the integrated dual disorder treatment model to structure the provision of services. This program provides residential treatment services to medically fragile people with mental health diagnosis and co-occurring substance abuse disorders. NOVA III provides 24-hour nursing and residential staff to provide optimum care and medical attention creating a recovery-oriented treatment environment in which the participant's mental illness, substance abuse disorder and medical conditions are addressed in a coordinated, comprehensive manner. As we understand these challenges complicate each individual's efforts to achieve stable and sustained recovery the environment of encouragement, responsibility, and individualized, flexible services provided will allow residents to recover a degree of independence and progress to integrated recovery based living arrangements in the community.
