Salary: $2,757.48 monthly – Level I
$2,998.18 monthly – Level II

This position may be filled at the alternate level of the JFD depending upon the qualifications of the applicant.

BASIC PURPOSE:
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for conducting specialized training and staff development programs at an assigned correctional facility, at a training academy or for a department region/division. This includes evaluating and determining employee training needs, preparing required curriculum and conducting training on various topics and skills.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS:
This job family consists of four levels which are distinguished based on the complexity of the assignments skills required to complete specific assignments, and the responsibility for the supervision of others.

Level I:
This is the basic entry level at a facility or district. At this level employees perform routine professional level work in completing various training activities. This may include conducting various types of training using existing materials and plans, assisting in the development and coordination of training programs and maintaining training records.

Level II:
This is the career level of this job family where employees are assigned full responsibility for developing and conducting various types of training and related activities in a correctional training program at a facility, unit, or district. This will include preparing any required lesson plans or other materials, conducting classes, workshops or seminars, evaluating participant results, preparing required reports, and other related activities. Employees assigned to this level may also be responsible for providing training at an academy or division level while under the guidance or indirect supervision of a higher level Correctional Training Officer or staff member.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level I:
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of correctional or security work, training, adult education or human resource development for each year of the required education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

NOTE: Experience must have been the primary responsibility in order to be considered as qualifying.

Level II:
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level I plus one additional year of qualifying experience or a master’s degree in adult education or human resource development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of correctional or security work, training, adult education or human resource development for each year of the required education.
