Coordinator of Student Programming Details

University of Southern Mississippi - Hattiesburg, MS

Employment Type : Full-Time

Coordinates all activities pertaining to the Student Alumni Association and works with the Assistant Director for Constituent Relations to establish, develop and promote programs designed to facilitate stronger relationships between alumni in residence and the University.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Student Alumni Association Advisor (SAA) – Coordinates all activities pertaining to the SAA, including membership drives, purchase of SAA supplies, planning of meetings and events, management of the budget, initiating printing needs and coordination of on-campus and off-campus projects.
  • Southern Miss Connections – Serves as the staff point of contact for the Association’s Southern Miss Connections mentoring program. Tasked with the overall promotion of the platform to students, alumni, faculty and staff to develop continued growth in the number of users and connections between students and alumni. Responsible for the implementation of a marketing plan aimed at developing more mentor and mentee relationships among Southern Miss constituents.
  • SAA HUB App - Manages the Association’s Mobile Application designed to facilitate communication with current students. Responsible for developing a communication plan designed to increase the use of the Application by students as a primary information source.
  • Campus Liaison – Works with other campus departments such as First-Year Experience to promote traditions and awareness of the Association to other student facing departments and organizations.
  • Special Projects - Additionally this position will be required to assist with special events, projects or initiatives as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Assistant Director for Constituent Relations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Student Affairs, or a related field and at least 6 months to one year of experience in marketing and/or customer service.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructions and communication.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, students, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
