Position Information: Position Title:Coordinator for Nationally Competitive Awards Job Group:Professional & Scientific Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience as a national/international competitive scholarship and fellowship advisor.
Ability to collaborate and network with campus partners (e.g.faculty committees, NCA Writing Consultant, learning communities, Honors Program, student organizations, etc.)
Ability to develop and implement long-term plans.
Ability to create and manage databases, upgrade websites, create effective presentation and informational materials.
Experience with program effectiveness assessment methods
Personal success as a fellowship, scholarship, or grant recipient. Job Description: The Coordinator for Nationally Competitive Awards, is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and developing student candidates for high-profile, competitive, national and international-level scholarship/fellowship awards such as Rhodes, Fulbright, Goldwater, and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP). Subsequent to award announcements, the coordinator will be responsible for promoting and publicizing ISU successes to internal and external audiences. The coordinator will enhance student competitiveness for these awards by developing a strategy to identify potential candidates, providing individualized guidance throughout the process, and increasing faculty involvement in the process where appropriate. The coordinator will promote opportunities for major fellowships and scholarships to the campus community with the goal of increasing the number of applications from Iowa State University. The coordinator reports to the Administrative Director of the University Honors Program under the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost at Iowa State University. Essential duties of this position include: Work with campus partners to publicize fellowship and scholarship opportunities. Work with campus partners to advise and guide participants through the fellowship and scholarship application cycle. Develop and implement a process for early identification of potential candidates. Develop and implement an effective on-campus selection process. Expand faculty involvement in the fellowship process. Communicate clearly through verbal and written formats and with internal and external audiences.
