Position Summary

The Developmental Care Program, Department of Pediatrics, Neonatology Division, is seeking a full-time Clinic Coordinator to join our administrative support team. The Clinic Coordinator will serve as the primary administrative support for planning and implementing activities for our three current outpatient clinics, with the possibility of a fourth clinic in the future. Primary duties for each clinic will include: assisting with clinic coverage planning , scheduling and coordinating clinic appointments, reviewing and coordinating follow-up appointments, consult with families to determine needs, working with intervention services, determining insurance and/or Medicaid eligibility for benefits and obtaining physician referrals prior to clinic, attending clinic to oversee clinic activities, organizing and maintaining patient medical records, typing/editing, and mailing clinic reports, and maintaining an Access database. Other Duties as required.

The successful candidate will be one that has good communication skills, is well organized, detail oriented, and works well independently as well as in a team. This candidate will also need to be flexible, be able to coordinate a high volume of multiple tasks, follow-up on projects, problem solve, and anticipate needs. This individual will also be responsible for interacting with a variety of medical professionals and other administrative support personnel.

  • Clinic-Specific Certification may be a requirement in some specific positions.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at UNM HSC or other medical office setting
  • Experience with patient scheduling for medical appointments
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Access
  • Experience at proofreading and editing written reports and correspondence
  • Experience using PowerChart or other electronic medical records database
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking)
