JOB SUMMARY: Perform complex re-design and development efforts for control, electrical, and software systems of theme park Venues to provide increased safety, reliability and operational improvements. Duties include supporting downtime recovery, troubleshooting, conducting fault analysis, completing redesign assignments, performing test and start-up integration, and working as a Ride Engineer. Duties also include writing and reviewing software (PLCs and Smart Relays) and hardware for new control systems for safety, security, and reliability, evaluating risk assessments, and preforming configuration management of hardware/software. All work shall be in conformance with ASTM F24 Committee Guidelines and compliant with applicable codes, regulations and standards including: AISC, ASME, ASTM, ANSI, AWS, IEEE, JIC, NEC, NEMA, NFPA, OSHA, etc. Responsible for assigned Controls Engineers (Assoc, Engr I, Engr II, and Engr III) and their efforts to perform moderately complex re-design and development projects for electrical, software, and/or control systems of Venues. Will ensure that their assigned Engineers support Venue downtime recovery, troubleshooting, fault analysis, re-design assignments (hardware and software), complex electrical/control systems to improve safety, testing, start-up integration, etc. Will ensure that the assigned Engineer work conforms to ASTM F24 Committee Guidelines and all other applicable codes. This position will provide mentorship, leadership, and project direction for the assigned Engineers. This includes reviewing written documents (ECN, DCN, Bulletins, etc.), ensuring the Engineering Tasks are completed, assessing the Engineer performance, and ensuring the Engineer completes all mandatory safety training classes and other assigned duties. Will support Engineering Management with the hiring, training, scheduling, development, and performance reviews of the Engineers. The position will also assist Engineering Management in developing and controlling the department budget and other related requests. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: SCOPE: Responsible for you and your Engineering Team’s completion and implementation of complex re-design and development efforts of all Venue systems to provide increased reliability and operational improvements. Review and evaluate Venue systems, components, and technologies with a focus on guest and Team Member safety. Responsible for you and your Engineering Team to provide sustaining (electrical/controls) engineering support for all UO Areas and Venues on a 24/7/365 basis. Provide immediate support to any UO emergency. EDUCATION: EXPERIENCE: 5-7 years demonstrated project engineering experience of electrical engineering, control systems design and installation in an engineering environment for the development of dynamic motion (mobile) systems in a theme park industry OR 6-8 years of electrical and control design associated with dynamic motion (mobile) systems and components OR 6-8 years of strong analytical skills to perform engineering calculations for design, analysis, test and implementation of electrical and control system modifications required And 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred OR Equivalent combination of education and experience. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A. Proficient analytical skills to perform engineering calculations for design, analysis, test and implementation of electrical and control motion systems. B. Proficient background in servo controls as applied to hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromotive motion control systems and Allen Bradley PLC systems and others as applicable to ISO 13849-1, IEC60204-1, IEC62061, ISO12100 standards, PLC Safety Levels, UL 508A, NEC, ASTM (F24 Standards), and best practices. C. Proficient knowledge and logical approach to problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities of Control System and some Mechanical systems. D. Proficient in Safety Critical Systems, Ride/Show Systems, Animation Systems, Electrical Drawings, Ladder logic (software/drawings), Control Schematics, and Technical Documents. E. Strong experience in the generation of Control System (hardware and Software), Components, System Specifications, Acceptance Test Procedures, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Scopes of Work, Installation Procedures, Technical and Maintenance manuals.
