Interface Security Systems is seeking an experienced Controller to join our growing finance and accounting team!
Controller Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. degree in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA preferred. MBA is a plus.
  • 10+ years of proven accounting experience.
  • Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook. MS Access and Visio are a plus.
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV or experience with Organizational ERP systems.
  • Previous experience in managing an accounting/finance department.

Specific Job Duties

  • Maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of all accounting personnel by providing them with training, motivation, and direction, including specific goals and objective productivity targets.
  • Financial Statements and Reports are produced timely and accurately.
  • Monthly and Annual General Ledger close and General Ledger balance sheet accounts reconciled, and income statement accounts reviewed in accordance with management assertions.
  • Responsible for the development, design, and delivery of certain Management Reporting.
  • Perform financial analysis on trends and budget versus actual. Communicate with management any projected problem areas or opportunities for cost savings and process improvement.
  • Review Job Cost and Work-in-Process Reporting and Accounting.
  • Maintain budgets and analysis views in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
  • Responsible for the completion of audit work papers for various audits, not exclusive to financial statements, financial institutions, and insurance underwriters.
  • Manage and review tax and regulatory compliance and ensure organized and defensible documentation.
  • Manage inventory control to ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting.
  • Fixed Assets tracking and audit-proof documentation.
  • Financial Commitments tracking and audit-proof documentation.
  • Maintain Accounting Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure completion of daily cash reconciliation, reporting, and approvals (Banking relationships).
  • Special Projects as assigned not exclusive to Acquisitions, NAV programming changes, Procedural Changes, and Training
  • Comply with all policies outlined in the Interface Employee Handbook and Employee Safety Manual.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Expected Results from the Controller:
(Measurable standards of performance – cost reduction, project deadlines, etc.)

  • External and Internal deadlines are met in regards to accounting and finance job duties and assignments
  • Review and publish timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP within five business days after the completion of Account Payable and Accounts Receivable for month-end.
  • All general ledger accounts have documented review for accuracy via monthly (or more frequent) reconciliations prior to finalization of financial statements
  • Assets and financial commitments are well documented and maintained in full in a real-time manner
  • All regulatory and tax filings are accurate and within the jurisdictional deadlines
  • Policies and procedures will be updated at least once per annum in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Management reporting is published timely and accurately
  • Recurring Monthly Revenue reporting (Final) is published within 24 hours of Accounts Receivable completion
  • Accounts Receivable reporting (Final) is published within 24 hours of the completion of Accounts Receivable processing
  • Job Cost reporting (Final) is published within 72 hours of the completion of both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable

Impact of the Job on the Organization

  • (Amount of company assets accountable for – people, money, equipment, expense limits, etc. “Lead a team of professionals and manage a departmental budget of $X)
  • Provide a positive management model for peers and a leadership model for the Finance Department
  • Manage at least direct reports, including senior and staff accountants, customer invoicing, and commissions personnel
  • Responsible for all general ledger accounts and thus the accuracy of input data for financial statement and SEC reporting compilation
  • Responsible for the initiation or approval of outgoing bank wire transfers of any amount

Authority Level for the Position

  • Accounts Payable checks – can sign and release checks in accordance with the Delegation of Authority Policy and Procedures
  • The hiring of new staff within VP of Finance provided budget
  • Termination of staff with just cause and adequate documentation
  • Administrative type contracts (operating agreements) – may sign and obligate Interface in accordance with the Delegation of Authority Policy and Procedures

The ability to lift a box up to 50 lbs. in weight
Physical and Logical Access

  • Provided 24/7 physical access to corporate Accounting area and Operations, no warehouse or Secure Operations Center
  • In the test environment, full “Super-User” logical access for all systems
  • In production environment:
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV – Super-Read and access to other areas will be granted on needs-based
  • Filebound – Full access, excluding Human Resources
  • Manitou – Read Only
