Job Location: Los Angeles POSITION SUMMARY The Controller assists the Director of Finance in managing the business affairs of the agency as it relates to the Fiscal Department’s responsibilities and obligations. The Controller is primarily responsible for overseeing and directing the day-to-day operations of the fiscal department including all fiscal staff and the execution of their daily duties, payroll processing and reporting functions. He/she manages subordinate staff in the performance of all accounting related activities. He/she is also responsible for the maintenance of all accounting systems including excel spreadsheet applications and electronic folders, policies & procedures, compiling, analyzing and reporting accounting information to executive management and external third parties. The Controller, at the direction of the Director of Finance, may act as the primary liaison with outside auditors and government agencies involving contractual issues. The Controller manages the monthly financial closing process. He or she will perform a wide array of tasks in support of the Director of Finance involving difficult, sensitive, and confidential information requiring a high degree of independent judgment, accounting and financial technical skills, and strong familiarity with costing principles, cost reporting, and thorough knowledge of agency wide policies and procedures.
