Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) needs a Contracts Manager with the experience and savvy to work with internal stakeholders to craft complex contracts in a wide variety of areas including partner, subcontractor, consultant, vendor, partner, and customer contracts. As Contracts Manager you will be assigned various contracts by the COO and General Counsel and be responsible for the substantive review, drafting, and negotiation of such contracts. Contracts will generally be with experts, health organizations, nonprofits, and government entities in the areas of our expertise, including behavioral health, mental health policy and services, substance use disorders, workforce development, homelessness, housing and employment programs, trauma-informed care, criminal justice, women and children, veterans, health care reform, and population health management.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess legal and business risks, and escalate issues as needed
  • Review, draft and negotiate federal and state contracts, internal business unit documents, NDAs, and others as assigned.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Contracts Coordinator to manage version control of all assigned contracts
  • Partner with business teams at all levels and across multiple functions to effectively identify and remedy contractual process issues
  • Serve as a point of contact for contract questions from within the company
  • Assist in federal, state, and local entity periodic filings
  • Act as a business partner to Compliance in connection with training and other activities
  • Oversee the expansion and organization of a library of agreement templates and outstanding agreements

Requirements:

  • A law degree or at least three years’ experience negotiating contracts as part of a contracts department within an organization
  • Excellent contract review, drafting, and negotiation skills
  • Experience reviewing and drafting various complex contracts
  • Working knowledge of the FAR with working understanding of Firm Fixed Price contracts and Cost Reimbursement contracts
  • Extremely organized, thorough, and accurate with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and work streams to meet deadlines
