Job Summary

The State Manager Consultant II is responsible for contributing to the attainment of profit and growth targets for an assigned state/market or line(s) of business. They design, develop and analyze and manage strategies and initiatives using product, pricing, and risk management skills to achieve business goals.

Key Responsibilities

With minimal direction, conduct analysis of the marketplace, competitive position and business results and articulate findings that support the development of local strategies to ensure business objectives are being achieved. This includes making observations and/or strategy recommendations.
Reviews and assesses research/analysis from other sources to determine applicability in helping to meet business objectives
Understands and uses appropriate data sources and applications to conduct research
Tracks own plan performance, project timeline and communicates project status
Ensures project controls are in place throughout the lifecycle of the project within own tasks
Leverages working knowledge of product, price and risk management to support the development of local Underwriting and/or Line Management strategies and plans
Understand and communicates standard market specific implications of business strategies
Assures proper execution of regulatory/legislative practices for Product Management
Understands internal and external compliance requirements/standards and recommends adjustments to strategies as needed
Provide expertise on questions, education and/or communications in partnership with regional operations team
Participates in the evaluation of procedures and processes makes observations or suggests improvements

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • 2 or more years of related experience preferred

Functional Skills

  • Strong analytics and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in evaluation and summarization of data
  • Intermediate written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate specialized terms and data
  • Intermediate knowledge of product, price, risk management and insurance regulation knowledge, with working knowledge of lines, rate plans and product offerings
  • Working knowledge of current industry standards/environment
  • Good collaboration and relationship skills
  • Ability to plan, implement, manage, and/or sponsor projects of medium complexity and/or medium scale key initiatives using accepted project management standards
Compensation Data

Compensation for this position will start at $56,000/year. Actual salary offered will depend on selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
