Construction Laborer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Sweep, clean up rubble, debris, and hazardous materials at site.
- Reads and interprets plans, instructions, and specification to determine work activities.
- Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Digs ditches or trenches, back fill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
- Positions, joins, align, and seals structural components, such as concrete wall sections and pipes.
- Measures, marks and records openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
- Loads, unloads, and identifies building materials, machinery, and tools, and distributes them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
- Erects and disassembles scaffolding, shoring braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
- Builds and positions forms for pouring concrete and dismantles forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails or bolts.
- Must be able to operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment in a safe manner. A list of such tools include, but are not limited to the following:
- Air Hammers
- Earth tampers
- Cement mixers small mechanical hoists
- Surveying and measuring equipment
- Hammer
- Drills
- Various types of saws
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Have a valid California Drivers License with a decently clean DMV record.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Customer Services skills.
- Must be able to operate a variety of hand tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb, crawl, push, pull, reach, sit, stand, climb ladders, and work with various tools and equipment. Must be able to operate a pallet jack and forklift. Have to ability to listen, understand, and communicate in writing and verbally. The employee will frequently be required to lift objects up to 75 pounds.
