Job Summary:
Urban Engineers is looking to hire a qualified MEP Construction Inspector. The MEP Construction Inspector will perform on-site construction inspection services for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection projects.
MEP Construction Inspector Responsibilities:
- Candidate will report to the Resident Engineer and perform construction inspection duties as assigned of mechanical (HVAC), electrical, fire protection, fire alarm, plumbing and communication systems
- Willingness to learn and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Verbal communication includes speaking with the Resident Engineer, Senior Level Inspectors, and other contract staff, facility staff in person or via electronic devices.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records and other reports as requested.
- Identify potential issues and keep the Resident Engineer advised of impacts and resolutions. Prepare related sketches and documentation.
- Coordinate construction work with the Agency staff as needed.
- Confirm MEP components are installed correctly and conform to CT Building & Fire Codes and other technical rules and regulations, including:
- HVAC
- Boiler replacements
- Substations
- Electrical distribution
- Plumbing
- Fire protection systems
- Fire alarms
- conveying systems, sitework, fuel distribution stations
- Communication systems
MEP Construction Inspector Job Requirements:
- Preferred: Bachelor s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Protection Engineering or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in construction inspection on public projects, preferably on CT agency projects along with experience with multi-trade contractors.
- Must obtain OSHA 10 Certification
- Knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills

Pay Range: $30 - $50 / hour
