Construction Engineer

Job Description: Dewberry is currently seeking a Construction Engineer for our Orlando, FL office. The successful candidate will manage the assigned elements of a construction project to assure quality of the contractor’s compliance with the plans and contract documents, manage project inspection and serve as owner’s representative. Assigned project elements will largely involve single family residential developments, multifamily, commercial and municipal developments as well as roadways and other transportation facilities.

Responsibilities:- Duties include the preparation of construction cost estimates, review of contractor payment applications, and coordination with clients.
- Run project close out including plans review, coordination and submittal of the as-builts to the municipality for approval. These packages will be provided to the Senior Construction Manager.
- Assist with pre-construction conferences, utility coordination meetings, and construction progress meetings.
- Coordinate and facilitate bid process for construction plans.
Required Skills & Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred with experience specializing in construction/engineering management. Experience in field of construction or cost estimating is acceptable.
- 5-8 years of experience with land development and transportation construction projects.
- Knowledge of the use of AutoCAD or MicroStation, Excel and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to interpret private construction plans as well as public roadway plans, specifications, and contracts.
- Ability to understand, review and markup shop drawings and as-built surveys.
- Ability to create and review to cost estimates.
- FDOT construction inspection experience a plus- FDOT certifications including knowledge of pipeline and utilities construction methods, materials, standards and specifications preferred.
