Community Relations Coordinator Details

We are hiring a Community Relations Coordinator to join our Marketing & Communications team. You’ll be able to use your experience to develop and grow sponsorships and donations for the District. The Coordinator works collaboratively with internal departments and external entities to build and maintain community relationships. This position is sales, administrative and customer service in nature.


Shift Information

Position is 15-20 hours per week, with availability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain community relationships with businesses and organizations to create a database of potential sponsors, advertisers and donors.
  • Set and meet annual sales goals and program objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with District staff to identify sponsorship opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications team to create presentation and sales materials that support the sponsorship objectives.
  • Manage and track all sponsorship and advertising revenue.
  • Ensure all partnership deliverables and agreements are upheld.
  • Represent the District at various events, both internal and external, to interact with sponsors and professionally share the District’s brand. These events can be during the work week, in the evening and on the weekend and will be scheduled in advance.
  • Review corporate partnership and cause-marketing trends and identify opportunities for program adjustment and growth.
  • Foster and maintain effective professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


  • Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Fundraising, supplemented by three (3) years of related experience, including experience working directly with community and employees to promote organization brand messaging, events and programs
  • Strong communication, presentation, writing, computer and software skills
  • Ability to work independently and in collaborative team settings
  • Proficiency in making cold calls (via phone, teleconference, in-person, and in writing) as an introduction to prospective donors, with a willingness to ask for monetary and in-kind donations confidently and comfortably
  • Ability to represent the District actively and positively
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and have timely follow through with donors and donor prospects
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and creating, developing and implementing marketing plans
  • Familiarity with donor management database preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Northbrook business community a plus
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License
