CommonBond Communities invites qualified applicants to apply for the Communications Coordinator position at our Central Office in Saint Paul, MN. The Communications Coordinator supports CommonBond’s content creation efforts by developing, writing, editing, conducting interviews, and providing general support for print and digital channels. The Coordinator also maintains and organizes departmental collateral documents and editorial calendar, ensuring all are up-to-date and complete. Under the direction of the Marketing & Design Manager, the Communications Coordinator works within the Resource Development Department to help carry out strategic communications efforts and support brand and messaging consistency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops and writes stories by interviewing community partners, public officials, industry experts, CommonBond residents, and staff for digital marketing/communications channels.
  • Creates a repository of testimonials for use throughout mediums.
  • Gathers photos, videos, and other media assets for marketing, communications, fundraising, and event use.
  • Maintains editorial calendar in partnership with Marketing, Communications, and Fundraising teams.
  • Provides writing, editing, and proofreading support for Marketing, Communications, and Fundraising teams.
  • Ensures brand stewardship and consistency in partnership with Marketing & Design Manager; works with internal partners to create and maintain messaging consistency across all channels of communication.
  • Supports CommonBond’s digital strategy in collaboration with Marketing & Design Manager.
  • Supports internal communications efforts by attending meetings, managing scheduling requests, and helping Communications Director liaise between departments.
  • Serves as point person for CommonBond website updates and requests.
  • Manages updating of departmental collateral documents, ensuring data and other information remains up-to-date.
  • Provides support for annual report and other interdepartmental pieces and projects.
  • Serves as point person and content owner for department section of CommonBond’s intranet.
  • Participates actively in departmental events and activities.
  • Assists when needed for special events and related projects headed by Resource Development.
  • Act as an ambassador for CommonBond Communities, internally and externally.
  • Performs other communications functions as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated success in writing and editing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated competency in project management, including execution of multiple projects or cross-departmental projects
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including excellent grammar and proofreading abilities.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and details simultaneously.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Commitment to CommonBond Communities and its mission, vision, values, and residents.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experienced, effective writer for nonprofit and other mission-driven work.
  • Knowledge of marketing and communications.
  • Knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms.
  • Experience working with and on behalf of communities most impacted by racism and other forms of oppression.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to enter data into a computer.
  • Ability to travel/access to vehicle.
