Job Description


SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Purchase raw materials and manage inventories for assigned commodities (spend of at least $15MM) and locations to enable effective production of scheduled finished goods, optimization of capital and achievement of key manufacturing metrics: safety, quality, cost and service.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Purchase raw materials and components for manufacturing operations to enable effective production of scheduled finished goods and achievement of key manufacturing metrics: safety, quality, cost and service.

  • Manage optimal inventory levels through MRP system (Infor M3) in alignment with forecast and safety stock requirements in order to meet manufacturing schedules and customer requirements while also minimizing total investment.

  • Effectively demonstrate a deep understanding of the commodities businesses assigned, major suppliers, key cost drivers.

  • Collaborate with planning team and other business partners to promptly and efficiently identify and resolve issues.

  • Ensure business partner knowledge of and adherence to material management programs and procurement procedures.

  • Assess vendor performance and purchasing process efficacy and make recommendations for improvement including but not limited to risk assessment and development of proactive supplier performance improvement plans.

  • Participate/lead development, implementation and sustainment of the Company’s “pull” inventory systems with suppliers.

  • Provide leadership for inventory assessments and adjustments (e.g., cycle counting, year-end inventory).

  • Continue to identify and improve areas of opportunity (processes and people) associated with this position.

  • Participate in process improvement teams within and outside of department.

  • Build technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, classes, programs.

Qualifications


EDUCATIONAL and EXPERIENCE

Associate degree in Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management or other pertinent academic areas of study and 4 – 7 years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Excellent team/collaborative skills

  • Prior purchasing and/or production planning experience (preferrable in leather manufacturing)
