College Figure Model Details

The Miami International University of Art & Design is seeking applications for part-time figure models.

The primary purpose of the figure model is to provide students with the opportunity to practice, learn, and improve their perceptive skills and quality of artistic expression through observational drawing techniques and analysis of the human form. Figure models will be required to pose undraped, draped, and/or in costume.

Please note: Current students are NOT eligible to apply.

Candidates should be able to pose for varying lengths of time, moving into quick gesture drawings then easing into longer poses for sustained drawing exercises. Poses are both nude and seminude and include both female and male models.

Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a team. Candidates should be able to create suitable, interesting and sustained posed, draped and undraped, as directed by a course instructor. Poses will vary in length from 30 seconds up to 20 minutes intervals over a four hour period. Figure modal may be asked to provide creative costuming and props for appropriate in class assignments.

A high school education or equivalent is required.

Ability to arrive on time as scheduled.

Ability to pose draped and undraped.

Ability to work flexible schedule, work assigned schedule and arrive on time.

Ability to create and hold a variety of interesting poses, without movement, for varied durations.

Ability to demonstrate awareness and confidence of own body in space and around.

Knowledge of figure modeling techniques.
