Ability to code ED accounts with extensive knowledge of medical terminology, ICD 10 CM, CPT coding, injection/infusion coding, professional and facility E/M coding. Audits and reports results as needed; Assists developing strategic plan in line with health system goals as well as revenue cycle goals. Capitalize on opportunities and manage associated coding and coding outcome risks. Takes initiatives based on knowledge, priorities and goals. Ability to perform basic math and statistical calculations.
Minimum of 2 years of coding experience. Preferably experience with coding ED accounts with Injections/Infusions and assigning facility E/M levels. CPC, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA required. Knowledge of documentation regulations and/or requirements as they relate to ICD 10, CPT, and E/M coding regulatory requirements. Detailed knowledge of revenue cycle functions and relational metrics. Previous experience with 3M and EPIC is strongly desired. Must be able to assign facility and professional E/M levels as it pertains to the ED record. Also, must be able to assign injection and infusion codes.
