Duties: The primary function of the CMA/RMA is to provide direct and indirect support to the clinician in the delivery of patient care. The CMA/RMA prepares the exam room, chart, and patient to be seen by the practitioner and performs/implements orders for diagnostic tests. S/he accurately administers medications, including immunizations by all routes except IV. S/he routinely arranges outside referral appointments and provides patient education under the direction of the clinician when appropriate. The CMA/RMA must function under the direct supervision of a physician, RN, or midlevel practitioner. The CMA/RMA is expected to consult frequently with the supervising practitioner and to inform the clinician of the information given or actions taken.

Education & Work Experience

Required: Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Training Program OR Completion of an accredited Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant Training Program with 1-3 months of related experience.

Preferred: 3-6 months of related experience, Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Licenses, Certificates, Certifications or Registration:

Required: CPR Certification, Current Certification or Registration as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); Must possess valid state Driver’s License and automobile insurance with reliable transportation.
