Position Summary This job is for a Triage Medical Assistant. You will be the first point of contact for the Clinical Staff, taking phone calls and using your critical thinking skills. This job requires attention to detail, high volume call in-take. Good phones skills, good with computers. Experience CMA/RMA is needed or a fast learner. This is a sit down job and we are looking for 2 people to hire for 2 locations, one at our Grand Rapids location and one for Wyoming location
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Triage patients either by phone or in person
- Call in prescription and phone orders; pre-authorizations
- Return calls from patients with physician recommendations
- Perform all job functions in accordance with practice policies and ensure quality measures are being met
- Perform duties as requested by physicians regarding updating medications and information in the patient EMR and other office duties as applicable, i.e. open mail
- Enter patient information in the EMR system — taking and answering messages and other entries as applicable
- Double and triple check information when administering injections, entering information into EMR, pulling information down in patient charts, ordering procedures, etc.
- Maintain medicine cupboards, cabinets, exam rooms-clean, organized, dusted and stocked where applicable
- Maintain a clean and organized work station
- Help open and close rooms during the day; log off computer at end of day

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time, type, walk, carry and lift 10 lbs, reach, push, twist, pull, and bend
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, multi-line telephone, administer injections, and perform other clinical tasks
- Must be able to speak, read and write English; see and hear to perform the essential functions of the job
- Able to operate computer, fax machine, copier, telephone, printer, other office equipment
- Able to work during your established shift schedule
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Proof of current medical assistant certification or registration
- 1 year experience in a physician practice strongly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology/abbreviations, anatomy, medications, and general medical practice procedures required

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
