Job Description


Become a teacher and mentor by shaping the practice of new staff members entering the helping profession. Meet regularly with para-professionals as they provide community-based services for individuals with serious mental illness. Provide structured supervision sessions, and guide these community support staff members into providing clinically sound services. By meeting with them at least weekly and by reviewing their treatment planning and daily documentation, you can ensure that these new practitioners meet the high standards of quality that you and the agency set for them. By ensuring that form drives function, you become not just a supervisor but a true change agent as you see your clinical skills inform the practice of individuals who are entering the work force.

The Clinical Manager is a Qualified Practitioner (QP) who:

  • Participates in the hiring process for Mental Health Specialists or Community Support Specialists.
  • Provides clinical supervision of Mental Health/Community Support Specialists.
  • Provides individual clinical supervision for each direct report weekly, and group supervision at least once per month. Documents supervision accordingly.
  • Works collaboratively with the nursing and medical staff, especially in regard to psychiatric symptom management and primary care coordination.

Qualifications


In order to be successful at the McClendon Center, you must have:

  • Graduate degree in relevant field.
  • Licensed in the District of Columbia as a LICSW or LPC is required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience working with individuals diagnosed with a mental health disorders.
  • A positive mindset and solutions focused approach to solving challenges.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
  • The ability to focus on clients’ needs.
  • The ability to coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team within an outpatient mental health agency.
  • Knowledge of sound ethical clinical practice and principles related to the care of mental health consumers.
  • A superior communicator, who shares information readily and concisely, listens as well as gives advice, and respects the abilities of others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform amicably in an environment serving the mentally ill adult population.
  • Ability to respect and uphold client confidentiality.
  • Ability to exhibit a high level of organizational skills and able to prioritize and multi-task without direct supervision.
  • Experience with hospital discharges and community integration, desired.
