NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility provides 24-hour care for individuals in need of short-term, long-term care or hospice care. The facility is rated as a Best Nursing Home by US News and World Report. Post-Acute Care services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and audiology, and vocational rehabilitation. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to Gouverneur laboratory dispatch, quality control, quality assurance and inventory. 1.Report and document laboratory occurances. 2. Draw blood for laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures in accordance with laboratory/hospital established protocols/procedures. 3. Provide instructions to patients to ensure the integrity of specimen and appropriatness of specimens. 4. Follows laboratory/hospital policy and procedures for identyfiyng patients and patient specimens. 5. Perform thorough and adequate chart review before collecting labels for scheduled tests. 6. Maintain required laboratory records and logs. 7. Responsible for the maintanance of laboratory equipment : inventory/stock of lab supplies; and check for expired supplies. 8. Performs clerical tasks in support of blood drawing activities including tasks in Epic and Cerner. 9. Adhere to infection control practices including blood/body fluid precautions and isolation techniques. 10. Adhere to safety precaution to prevent errors and finger sticks. 11. Responsible for reviewing and follow up on POC quality control. 12. POC validation studies as assigned by the supervisor. 13. Documentation and tabulation of Laboratory and POC statistical data. 14. Perform duties related to departamental needs. 15. Scheduling and training for POCT's. 1. Valid certification as a clinical laboratory technician issued by the NYSED Special Note: Successfull completion of an appropriate training program for phlebotomy (satisfactory to the laboratory director) must be completed prior to an individual performing such work.
