Physical Therapist Assistant Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE)

The Physical Therapist Assistant Clinical Education Coordinator provides leadership to the clinical education portion of the physical therapist assistant program. In this role, the employee will leverage his/her experience and knowledge of their field to set the stage for the success of Rasmussen's career-oriented students. Through developing and maintaining clinical site contracts and placements that will truly fulfill the educational needs of every student; the Physical Therapist Assistant Clinical Education Coordinator will play an integral role in the success and overall positive experience for students of Rasmussen College.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Work effectively with faculty, staff, students, administration, vendors, and other state and accrediting agencies to plan and implement clinical education within the PTA program
  • Direct and lead clinical education within the PTA program, including instructional design, delivery systems, program and student evaluation; ensure program complies with college, state, and federal laws, standards and guidelines
  • Plan, develop, and maintain a variety of clinical experiences appropriate to the PTA program goals; teach a variety of classroom and lab PTA courses
  • Present to and engage groups of students to achieve their educational goals
  • Participate in training, observation and evaluation
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation, regulations and policies

Reporting Relationships:

The position of ACCE within Rasmussen College is the Physical Therapist Assistant Clinical Education Coordinator (CEC) and will report to an Academic Dean.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required; Master’s or Doctorate preferred
  • Current Physical Therapy or Physical Therapist Assistant licensure in any US jurisdiction
  • Minimum of three years (or equivalent), full-time, post licensure clinical practice experience
  • Didactic and/or clinical teaching experience
  • Two years of clinical practice must include experience as a CCCE or CI in physical therapy OR two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a PT or PTA program
  • Preferred knowledge of CAPTE accreditation guidelines; two years teaching in a CAPTE accredited PT or PTA program and APTA membership preferred
  • Persuasive communication skills, with ability to demonstrate results
  • Active community connections to assist students with internship/employment opportunities a plus
  • Must be able to provide professional licenses and/or certifications and official transcripts for each degree earned from an accredited institution before teaching
