Overview: This position provides fitting for various bracing products, basic repairs, troubleshooting and patient education in regards to durable medical equipment. Responsible for insurance verification and gathering documentation for billing of DME equipment. This position serves adult, geriatric and pediatric populationsResponsibilities:

  • Responsible for ordering durable medical equipment and bracing.
  • Completes weekly inventory at clinic and/or outreach locations.
  • Works with patients and providers to ensure that patients are fitted properly for medical equipment.
  • Serves as a resource to patients and family regarding questions on fit and/or usage.
  • Performs minor bracing repairs and/or adjustments.
  • Obtains and reviews medical records to ensure timely and accurate claim processing.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and coverage.
  • Obtains prior authorizations for products as required. Communicates with patient regarding estimated cost.
  • Conducts product training for providers and clinical staff.
  • Responsible for new product orientation.
  • Responsible for follow up with providers on incomplete claim submissions.
Qualifications:
  • DME Specialist certification (CDME) preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in the DME/Home Care Industry.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of billing codes for Medicare billing of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Minimum of one (1) years’ work experience with Medicare and private insurance companies.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel, and ability to learn other software as needed. Previous experience with electronic medical record (EMR) system preferred.
  • Must possess professional communication skills, and work effectively with a diverse customer and coworker population.
  • Understanding of the confidentiality laws that govern the provider-patient relationship, including but not limited to HIPAA guidelines
