Job Opening SummaryThe CPCA functions as an assistant to the registered nurse by performing routine procedures under his or her supervision. The CPCA provides general clerical support to customers of a patient care unit by functioning as a receptionist, transcriber, monitor of medical records, and information/communication specialist.
Job Opening QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or certification of completion of a semester-long PCA program with high school diploma or equivalent. Two years of college preferred. Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
OR
- Nursing student currently enrolled in an approved program for preparation of professional nurses - upon successful completion of the didactic and clinical portion of a fundamentals in nursing course (as evidenced by a grade of "C" or better).
OR
- Nursing student currently enrolled in an approved program for preparation of Licensed Practical Nurses - upon successful completion of the didactic and clinical portion of nursing fundamental course work (as evidenced by a grade of "C" or better).
OR
- One year experience as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) or equivalent position.
- Demonstrated continuous work experience required.
- Clerical experience preferred.
- Work experience in positions requiring extensive phone contact, public contact or public service preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or certification of completion of a semester-long PCA program.
