CITY OF ROUND ROCK DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, the Construction Inspector inspects construction projects in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of the general public by ensuring construction conforms to state, city, local codes, and specifications. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Inspects water main services, wastewater main services, and street construction by performing field inspections of fire lines, fire hydrants and valves, manholes and cleanouts, storm sewer piping and inlets, reclaimed water main services, trench safety, traffic control, storm water B.M.P's, quantity verification/pay estimates and right of way and street cut permits. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid Texas Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to employment.

Makes field and plan changes; responding to citizen complaints; mediates and coordinates with contractors, other departments, the civil engineer and franchise utilities, right-of-way permits and street cut permits.
Maintains communication with contractors, citizens, engineers, and other departments by utilizing email and the telephone; assists in handing out door tags and flyers.
Generates documents daily and weekly via software (i.e., Trakit); creates specialty reports, time sheets, water usage reports, and warranty reports.
Reviews plans and specifications, as-builts for accuracy, conducts submittal reviews for city details and city ordinance, state and local specifications and plan revisions.
Manages quality control by checking for ADA compliance; performs visual inspection for faulty materials; inspects water mains, services and fire lines and wastewater mains, manholes, mandrels, and reclaimed water mains and services; takes bacteriological samples for the water line; completes a final walk-through and punchlist.
Ensures coordination by organizing pre-construction meetings, on-site and progress meetings, review plan meetings, pre-bid and bid opening meetings, and organizes training and informational conferences.
Minimum one (1) year in the construction field.
