CISCO Networking Academy / Cyber Security Teacher

Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a CISCO Networking Academy / Cyber Security Teacher. Working under the direction of the school principal and the Supervisor of Career and Technology, this position conveys to students an understanding of all aspects of CISCO Networking as well as Cyber Security. Students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for career success in the Information Technology (IT) field. Prepares students to become licensed as computer repair technicians, helpdesk operators, networking technicians, and network administrators. Students will prepare for A+, CCENT, CCNA: Routing and Switching, and various CISCO networking certificates.
DUTIES:
- Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying learning styles, ethics, social, and economic backgrounds, and special needs.
- Assists in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
- Team teaches with instructional team members.
- Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures to grant credit by demonstrated proficiency.
- Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
- Collaborates with peers to enhance their instructional environment to maximize the outcomes for each student.
- Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community.
- Models workplace maturity in leading students’ development toward positive workplace skills and attitudes.
- Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and partner schools.
- Assumes responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals.
- Demonstrates gains in student performance and job placement.
- Participates in training as required.
- Meets professional obligations and in-services through efficient work habits, such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, developing shared lessons and delivering instruction with co-teaching partners.
- Establishes an active partnership with a trade-related Program Advisory Council (PAC) to stay abreast of current and improved techniques, trends, and products, for curriculum updates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be eligible for a Maryland State Department of Education Conditional or Professional teaching certificate in Professional and Technical Education (PTE): Information Technology (IT): Networking: CISCO upon employment.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Certifications preferred; CISCO’s CCENT/CCNA and CompTIA A+ certifications.
- Be willing to undergo Instructor Training.
- Five (5) years experience in the area of computer networking and repair, computer security background desired.
- Knowledge of Dorchester County Public Schools curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, Dorchester County Public Schools policies, and effective instructional practice.
- Able to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents, and the community.
- Have excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
