Lurie Children’s Hospital and Feinberg School of Medicine seek a faculty member as the inaugural Chief Research Informatics Officer (CRIO) f or the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute, affiliated with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago (Manne Research Institute). This is a unique opportunity to build and imprint an informatics vision on a rapidly growing research portfolio at a top-ranked academic children's hospital based in Chicago. All pediatric research at Lurie Children's is conducted through Manne Research Institute. The research institute has been designated a Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine research center for its central role in the university’s integrated research program, and Lurie Children’s is the pediatric teaching hospital for Feinberg. The CRIO will be a senior leader focused on engaging with the research enterprise to further its broad research mission to advance pediatric medicine. The CRIO reports to the President and Chief Research Officer (CRO) and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Manne Research Institute. The CRIO will collaborate with the Vice President of Hospital Data Analytics and Reporting, the Chief Medical Informatics Officer, the Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer, and their respective teams. The successful candidate will provide expertise and oversight of research informatics and analytics as applied within the three existing research pillars: 1) Basic and Preclinical Science, 2) Clinical and Community Trials, and 3) Community, Population Health, and Outcomes. The CRIO will oversee the development of a fourth research pillar, Quantitative Science, as home to research analytics, research information systems, and research information technology (IT), as well as faculty in related areas, informaticians and statisticians, information systems, databases, data architecture, and related research technology and infrastructure. The CRIO will be highly visible across the organization, including through informal partnerships, research initiatives, governance groups, and other means. The ideal candidate will have five or more years of research IT management experience in a healthcare, clinical research, or research laboratory setting and have experience using data toward the design of research and clinical decision support and other interventions within systems to influence behavior, research, and clinical decision and drive outcomes. The CRIO will be a collaborator, team- and program-builder, able to effectively communicate the vision to all stakeholders, garner buy-in, and lead a successful implementation effort. An MD, PhD or MD/PhD is required. The CRIO will be a member of the faculty of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, based at Lurie Children’s.
