JOB SUMMARY:
The Chief Operating Officer manages new business operations, call center functionality, process improvement, licensing/contracting, compliance and facilities. The role reports to the President of Covr and includes mission-critical customer facing roles. The Chief Operating Officer has multiple direct reports and manages a growing staff of 40+ professionals in multiple locations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the leadership and day-to-day oversight of the new business team; including application intake, case design, case management, quality review and maintaining strong sales partnerships.
- Works in partnership with the sales team to ensure end-to-end customer satisfaction; includes interfacing with head of sales, distribution partners, carriers, etc.
- Oversees licensing and ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.
- Oversees vendor management relations and sourcing to deliver a first class operational experience.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes. Assess existing policies and procedures, recommend changes, and implement enhancements to increase the Covr’s operational effectiveness and profitability.
- Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.

- Oversees the implementation of telephone systems and CRM system to manage workflow and advisor/customer connectivity.
- Ensures new initiatives are aligned with organizational culture; ensures staff has the systems and information they need to be successful; responsible for site leadership of the Boise and Colorado Springs locations and coordination responsibility with Hartford location.
- Supports strategic initiatives and contributes to innovation agenda.
- Member of senior management team; board and investor interaction.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- College degree required, advanced degree preferred.
- Industry designations and/or project management certifications preferred.
- 5+ years direct relevant experience in life insurance, annuities, new business and call center operations.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
- Ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
- Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
- A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations.
- Excellent implementation skills, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Drives performance targets to completion.
- Ability to see processes end-to-end and manage towards targets like unit costs, conversion rates, ROI and customer satisfaction scores.
