To be a role model primary care physician, educator and provider of care for patients throughout the health care delivery network of WesternU, and to teach osteopathic primary care medicine to COMP and WesternU students at the direction of the Chair of Family Medicine.

This is accomplished through excellence in curriculum, translational research, service and osteopathic clinical practice.

1. Able and willing to practice the full scope of Family Medicine as defined by current College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific/Western University Medical Center policies and practices.

2. Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications

1. EDUCATION: DO or MD degree. Residency trained and Board Certified in Family Medicine.

2. EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years experience in Family Medicine.

3. LICENSURE: Unrestricted California State license. Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency certificate.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to individuals who possess bilingual capabilities, have additional advanced degrees and clinical research experience.

Essential Job Duties

Job Duty

Administration:

Chief Medical Officer. Provide administrative oversight to patient care activities as instructed by supervisor. Participate in contracting, service line development, EMR, quality, developing and implementing strategic initiatives, financial /budget management, and inter-professional team development.

Clinical/Professional Practice:

Patient care in the Western University Patient Care system or affiliated sites as assigned. Maintain Hospital status/attend required meetings. Provide group/nursing home medical care. Cover on-call for the practice.

Participation in curriculum and committees as assigned by supervisor and Dean. Participates in scholarly activity, including academic and research presentations, clinical research, publication in peer reviewed journals, and innovations in teaching and the educational process

Faculty are expected to actively engage with, support and advise their assigned students in a variety of ways throughout their medical school career including regular meetings, participation in orientation week and advising activities.
