JOB DESCRIPTION We are looking for a Chief Engineer who is hands on, and a team player to join our engineering team at the home of Hollywood glamour, the historic Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles which has been the choice of celebrities, presidents, and dignitaries, and the backdrop for many movies and TV shows. POSITION: Supervises and coordinates activities of union engineers engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings and grounds. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Directs workers engaged in the general maintenance, painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings. Directs workers assisting other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies. Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards. Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Maintains time and production records. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Performs activities of workers supervised. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises union employees in the Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
