Responsibilities:

Reporting to: Owner CES / Director of Marketing Fleet Feet

The Chicago Endurance Sports (CES) Program Manager is the go-to person for the operations, marketing and coordination of all programs and events which fall under the Chicago Endurance Sports portfolio. The Program Manager brings our mantra, RUNNING CHANGES EVERYTHING, to life through fostering and developing the community of CES. As an active member of the Fleet Feet Chicago Marketing Team, the Program Manager works on setting, updating and achieving recruitment and revenue goals and takes part in marketing initiatives, meeting attendance and project management. Additional time may be required on the sales floor, providing event support and /or marketing outreach as business dictates.

Qualifications:POSITION RESPONSIBILTIIES:

  • Market the CES program and recruit participants through phone, e-mail, digital and social media campaigns, events, and in-person information session
  • Liaise and coordinate coaches, site staff and volunteers for multiple training sites in and around Chicago.
Produce and implement events and activities around four to five race weekends per year, both in Chicago and on location. This includes preparation and execution of scheduled events involving hospitality, hotels, restaurants, marathon expos, location logistics, and race day course support.
  • Represent and speak on behalf of the organization at recruitment events and other public speaking opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with CES Charity Partners in close coordination with the Fleet Feet Charity and Community Manager.
  • Oversee coaches as they provide guidance to participants in the areas of endurance training, injury prevention, conditioning and nutrition. Provide a positive participant experience during the training program and provide excellent customer service with an emphasis on problem solving.
  • Oversee correspondence between CES and its participants by managing the CES general e-mail account and social media pages. Communicate with individuals that may be interested in participating in a CES program. Answer program-related questions timely, enthusiastically, and accurately.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to help at various CES functions, including training sites and events. Maintain a database/list of volunteers and manage relationships with different volunteer groups.
  • Oversee CES’s program of empowering previous program participants in mentoring new participants (CES Mentor Program).
  • Manage the CES database and registration platforms (EnMotive, Mind Body).
  • Exercise excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Work together with staff to build and maintain a positive and cohesive team environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned due to needs of the business

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required
  • Ability to motivate and inspire program participants and volunteers
  • Marathon or triathlon training experience in a group environment preferred
  • Strong marketing and management experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with demanding deadlines
  • Problem-solver who enjoys challenges and takes pride in creating the right solution
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to listen and adapt
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Builds and maintains trust by using sound judgment
  • Proficiency using Google Suite and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of project management platforms (e.g. Asana) preferred
  • Exceptional knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) preferred
  • Experience with creating clear and creative content copy
  • Ability to work with a diverse demographic of participants
  • Willing to go above and beyond when needed
  • Must be active in the sport of running or triathlon
  • Frequent local travel; must posses valid Illinois driver’s license; proof of auto liability insurance and have the use of a personal vehicle for work-related purposes
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (office and training site materials)
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and early mornings
