Position Summary The Chemistry Lead Tech is responsible for day-to-day oversight of the Chemistry department operation and testing. You would ensure efficient and effective departmental operations to maintain regulatory compliance, including CAP proficiency testing, quality control, quality assurance, inventory management, and policy and procedural updates. Monitoring and evaluating processes and recommend improvements when necessary. As the Chemistry Lead Tech, you should exhibit critical thinking skills and be proficient in troubleshooting equipment and managing the Quality Control program. You would be the technical resource person, providing staff orientation, training, and coordination of activities for the continuous improvement of operations for the department. The Lead Tech must develop and maintain a positive and effective working relationship with all hospital departments, employees and medical staff. Required to rotate through the departments in the Laboratory, performing various procedures in hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, coagulation, and microbiology to provide information for use in the diagnosis and treatment of hospital inpatients and outpatients. Minimum Requirements Graduated from an accredited medical laboratory technician or technology program. Successful completion of MT ASCP, MLT ASCP or HEW examination with a minimum of four 4 years of clinical laboratory experience in the following disciplines Hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, chemistry, special chemistry, microbiology and phlebotomy. Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred but not required. Other Information Full-Time Required to work rotating holidays, as well as rotating second and third shifts on occasions.
