Responsibilities*
What will you be responsible for? Abstract all new cancer diagnoses and/or other reportable neoplasms within the cancer registry database according to established criteria from Michigan Cancer Surveillance Program (MCSP) and the American College of Surgeons – Commission on Cancer (ACoS-CoC). You will utilize critical thinking skills and have a high attention to detail while performing case findings and patient follow-up activities using established workflow Work collaboratively with physicians and other clinical staff to obtain complete clinical information
Required Qualifications*
Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) from the National Cancer Registrar Association required Minimum of 3 years work experience in a cancer registry Ability to be analytical, reliable, and adaptable in clinical situations Capable of working and making decisions independently Take initiative and step outside of the box to develop creative ideas Strong dedication to team success Handle problems in a solutions-oriented manner
Desired Qualifications*
An Associate’s Degree with experience in all aspects of the cancer registry operations and cancer program standards RHIT or RHIA with CTR
Work Schedule
This position allows a flexible schedule with the ability to work from home.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
