Qualifications:
  • One year of experience in a hospital or nursing home setting, preferred
  • Has completed a recognized CNA training program, and is currently a State Registered Nurse Aide through the KY State Board of Nursing
  • At least 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Current driver’s license and auto liability coverage
  • Negative TB skin test and pre-employment physician’s health clearance
  • Satisfactory references from previous employers
Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Actively participates as a paraprofessional member of the interdisciplinary team who works under the supervision of an RN or therapist, and alongside case managers, social workers, chaplains, and counselors
  • Illustrates empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired
  • Understands the philosophy of hospice care and the needs of the terminally ill
  • Comfort working in private homes in a wide variety of home environments and with a wide variety of families and caregivers
  • Performs various services under the direction of the RN or therapist to meet the patient’s personal needs and promote comfort
  • Observes the patient, appropriately documents, and reports on patient observations and care performed
  • Promotes quality, continuity, and safety of a patient’s care
  • Reads and follows written instructions and documents care given
  • Is self-directed with the ability to work with little direct supervision
  • Shows flexibility and cooperation in fulfilling the obligations of the role
