Summary of Position: Inspection and documentation of work performed by construction contractors to verify conformance or non-conformance with related contract documents, plans and specifications. Responsible for performing technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests in all phases of construction by assisting the Senior Inspectors.


Basic Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent plus two (2) years of experience in construction inspection, one (1) years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection or a Engineer Intern(EIT) with a Civil Engineering degree.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain the Preferred Qualifications while employed by TranSystems within one year of hire date or as assigned for specific project requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
    • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of all drilled shafts including
    • miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structures)
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • FDOT Intermediate or Advanced Maintenance of Traffic
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety.
  • Florida Stormwater, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors.


General Duties:

  • Inspect, document and verify work performed by the construction contractor for compliance or non-compliance with contract documents, plans and specifications.
  • Work closely with the contractor to resolve any issues in the field or elevate issue to the Senior Inspectors.
  • Measure and test work performed by the construction contractor for compliance or non-compliance with contract documents, plans and specifications.
  • Utilize basic engineering survey practices to verify alignment and elevations.
  • Documentation of construction materials received and verified.
