Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Catering Sales Manager will report to the Director of Sales and will work closely with the hotel’s catering, sales and banquet teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking, etc.) while maximizing banquet space to meet/exceed revenue goals.
  • Book Catering business, such as Corporate Meetings, Social Catering, Weddings, etc, detail the meeting / function with the client (space requirements, times, menus, themes, etc.), and assist in overseeing the event.
  • Complete contracts, BEO'S, coordinate with the appropriate areas / departments of the hotel to ensure proper high-quality product and service delivery and customer service satisfaction.
  • Maintain detailed files, notes, records and trace systems to ensure the event experience exceeds the customers expectations.
  • Execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture the maximum amount of Catering revenue.
  • Prepare status and weekly reports to keep management abreast of activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the competition's products, strengths and weaknesses to continually improve sales strategies and the achievement of goals
  • Participate in communication and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and promote sales.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Approach all encounters with clients, guests, and employees in an attentive, friendly, warm, and welcoming way.

Assume all responsibilities as delegated by management and do any or all other duties that may be required to fulfill customer needs and requests.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze data figures and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer.
  • Strong administrative skills including business writing.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.). Previous Hotel Catering experience
  • Exceptional service skills, with strong ability to foster effective relationships with all levels of staff, management and clientele
  • Outstanding leadership skills and the ability to create a motivating work environment
  • Excellent organization skill and ability to multi-task and successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

Additional Duties:

  • Completes projects as determined by Director of Sales
  • Actively seeks out other tasks when current work is complete
  • Participates in ongoing education and training of Franchise and Hotel Management Company

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education or Experience- Associates (A.A.) degree in business related field; or one to two years related hospitality sales experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills- Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: read, analyze, and interpret general business and sales documents, and financial reports. Write business letters, correspondence, summaries, and reports using prescribed format, and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. Actively participates in discussions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills- Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: compute discount, interest, profit and loss, commission, markups and selling price, and percentages. Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail. Possess strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Reasoning Ability- Must have developed reasoning skills to be able to: positively identify problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and provide a viable solution. Thoroughly understand principles of service and/or product being sold. Ability to positively persuade and influence others to select your product and service. Determine or interpret work procedures for a team, assigning specific duties and encourage cooperative teamwork while promoting efficiency.

  • Lifting up to 20 lbs. maximum with infrequent lifting and/or carrying or transporting of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including personal computer, copiers, facsimile, and telephone
  • Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
